Meet Marion – Founder of One Stitch More & Knitting Instructor

Marion is the passionate knitter and hand-dyer behind One Stitch More. Her love for knitting began at just eight years old, taught by her Oma at the family cottage. Since then, knitting has been a part of her daily life, inspiring a lifelong journey filled with creativity, colour, and texture.

Known for her fearless approach to new projects, Marion embraces challenges and new techniques with enthusiasm. Her adventurous spirit shines through in every piece she creates.

In 2020, Marion launched One Stitch More, a line of hand-dyed yarns inspired by bold colours and luxurious fibres. After a successful career as an engineer and Compliance Officer, she turned her passion into a full-time business, blending technical skill with artistic expression.

Today, Marion shares her expertise by teaching workshops in knitting and fibre arts. Whether you are learning Continental Knitting or exploring new techniques, Marion brings warmth, energy, and years of hands-on experience to every class.

Looking to expand your knitting skills? Join us for Continental Knitting 101 at Muskoka Yarn & Fibrefest in Bracebridge, Ontario! This hands-on knitting workshop is designed to introduce you to Continental knitting, an efficient and versatile technique perfect for faster knitting and colourwork projects.

What is Continental Knitting?
Continental knitting involves holding the yarn in your left hand, allowing for quicker stitching and smoother motion—especially helpful for stranded knitting and projects using multiple colours. If you have a background in crochet or want to improve your knitting speed, Continental style is a valuable technique to learn.

What You’ll Learn:

How to hold and tension yarn in your left hand

Knit and purl using the Continental method

Techniques for faster, more consistent stitching

How Continental knitting can benefit your projects

What to Bring:

One pair of 4 mm knitting needles

Yarn suitable for a small project (washcloth size)
