About Your Instructor: Suzanne Chaddock

Accredited Rug Hooking Teacher & Certified Oxford Punch Needle Instructor

Suzanne Chaddock is an experienced fibre artist and accredited rug hooking teacher
with the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild, as well as a certified Oxford Punch Needle instructor. With a patient teaching style and
deep knowledge of traditional rug hooking techniques, Suzanne helps complete beginners feel confident from their very first loop.

Her workshops are welcoming, hands-on, and designed to give students the foundational skills they need to begin their own rug hooking journey — whether you’re picking up a hook for the first time or exploring punch needle as a new fibre art.

Learn to Hook a Traditional Rug — Right Here at Fibrefest

Join Suzanne, an Ontario Hooking Craft Guild accredited teacher, for a hands-on introduction to the timeless art of traditional rug hooking. In just 2.5 hours, you'll go from complete beginner to pulling your very first loops — and walking away with a finished trivet (also called a mug mat) you made yourself.

What You'll Make

You'll choose your motif at the start of class — a heart, a star, or a pumpkin — and work through the full rug hooking process from first loop to finished piece. It's the perfect introduction to a craft that fibre lovers have been drawn to for generations.

Everything Is Included

Your kit has everything you need to get started:

  • A hoop
  • A rug hook
  • Your chosen pattern on linen
  • Cut wool strips in your colour palette
  • A piece of wool to finish the back of your mat

No experience necessary — just bring yourself and your enthusiasm.

About Your Instructor

Suzanne is an accredited teacher with the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild, bringing both expertise and a genuine love of the craft to every class. Whether you've been curious about rug hooking for years or just discovered it, you're in good hands.
