GEMS: Gauge, Ease, Measurements, Sizing
We all want our projects to fit beautifully—and that’s where these GEMS come in.
If you’ve ever finished a sweater that didn’t fit quite right, struggled to choose the correct size, or wondered whether gauge really matters, this course is your missing link. Understanding Gauge, Ease, Measurements, and Sizing is what separates “homemade” from handcrafted—and this class gives you those tools.
In this interactive, hands-on session, you’ll learn how these four essential elements work together to ensure your knit and crochet projects fit the way you imagined—every time. No more guessing, resizing mid-project, or hoping it works out in the end.
In this engaging workshop, you will:
Discover why gauge truly matters—and how to adjust it when it doesn’t match the pattern
Learn how ease changes the look, feel, and comfort of a garment—and how to choose the right amount
Practice taking accurate body measurements for better-fitting projects
Confidently choose the correct size across different patterns and designers
Apply your skills by changing yarns and recalculating gauge in real-world examples
You’ll actively put your learning to work throughout the session, ensuring these concepts finally click. Plus, you’ll walk away with practical charts, guides, and reference tools you can use again and again.
If you’re ready to stop crossing your fingers and start creating garments that fit and flatter, GEMS is the course you didn’t know you needed—but won’t want to knit or crochet without.
Because great projects deserve a great fit.
Materials needed:
There is no homework for this workshop. Please bring any of the tools that you currently use for determining gauge, ease, measurements, and sizing. Do you need help determining the GEMS of a particular project? Bring it with you and we can help.
