About the Instructor: Suzanne Chaddock, Accredited Rug Hooking Teacher
Suzanne Chaddock is an experienced fibre artist and accredited rug hooking teacher with the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild. She is also a certified Oxford Punch Needle instructor. Known for her patient teaching style and deep knowledge of traditional techniques, Suzanne helps beginners feel confident from the very first loop. Her workshops are welcoming, hands-on, and designed to give students the skills they need to start their own rug hooking journey.
Expand your rug hooking and punch needle skills with our Advanced Rug Hooking Workshop at Muskoka Yarn & Fibrefest! In this hands-on session, you'll create a beautiful 12-inch sun or moon pattern using wool strips, yarn, or a combination of both.
Learn advanced techniques including reverse hooking, shingle, bead, chain, and channel stitches. Explore creative finishes with alternative fibres like sari silk and velvet, and add a touch of personality using metal pins. You'll also learn how to finish round or pointed edges without whipping, while uncovering the symbolism and unlikely friendship between the sun and moon.
This three-hour workshop is designed for participants who already know how to hook and/or punch. All alternative fibres and pins are provided. Please bring your own hoop, hook or punch needle, scissors, and wool or yarn stash.
