Meet Your Workshop Instructor: Carol Howe of Tools 4 Ewe

Get inspired by the vibrant world of fibre arts with Carol Howe, the creative force behind Tools 4 Ewe. What began as a curiosity for colour over seven years ago has grown into a passion for dyeing yarn, hand spinning, felting, and rug hooking. After discovering acid dyeing through a hands-on course, Carol expanded her skills and launched Tools 4 Ewe on Etsy in 2020, followed by her YouTube tutorials in 2022 and first fibre show appearance in 2023.

Curious about dyeing your own fibre but not sure where to start? This beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to acid dyeing combed top. Led by Carol Howe of Tools 4 Ewe, you'll get practical experience working with acid dyes in a safe and supportive environment.

You’ll learn how to handle dye powders safely, mix dye stocks, use simple tools (no major investment required!), and explore basic colour theory using a dye chart. Carol will also share tips on where to find inspiration for colour combinations and how to get the most out of your dyeing experience.

Whether you’re new to fibre arts or looking to try something new, this interactive session will give you the skills—and confidence—to start creating your own custom-dyed fibre at home.

All workshop sign ups also include free admission to Muskoka Yarn & Fibrefest.
