Wild Mohair — Handwoven, Handknit & Handpainted Kid Mohair, Made in Canada
Meet Wild Mohair. The studio has been making things by hand in Canada since 2008.
It started in Haliburton as Wild Haliburton Elephant Weavers — yes, really — and is now based in Kitchener, Ontario. They work with the finest kid mohair, plus wool, silk, and other beautiful fibres.
Hand Painted Yarns and Knitting Kits
The main focus at Wild Mohair is hand painted yarns. You’ll find them on their own and as part of full knitting kits.
Each kit comes with what you need for your project. That can include:
- Hand painted yarn
- The pattern
- Fasteners
- Needles
- A project tote
What Yarns Will You Find?
The yarns are mostly fine mohair, wool, silk, and lovely blends. There are also some rare collections of specialty fibres if you like to work with something a little different.
Wild Mohair carries yarns like:
- Classic Kid Boucle Yarn
- Kid Mohair Halo Brushed Yarn
- Crazy Canadian Vintage Sock Yarn
- Boucle Kid Mohair Yarn
- Mohair Flag Yarn
Knitting Kits to Get You Started
If you’d rather take everything home in one go, the knitting kits include:
- Thistledown Sweater Kit
- Loop Shawl Kit
- Cowl Kit
- Mohair Sweater Kit
Handwoven Throws and Kid Mohair Wearables
Alongside the yarns and kits, Wild Mohair also makes finished pieces by hand. Each one is woven or knit using kid mohair.
You’ll find:
- Handwoven throws
- Shawls
- Scarves
- Cowls and other neckwear
- Caps and headbands
Accessories to Finish the Look
Wild Mohair also makes shawl pins, brooches, and decorative fasteners — designed to go beautifully with their mohair pieces.
Handmade Satchels and Project Totes
The studio also makes handmade satchels and project totes. Each one is designed and made one at a time.
They’re built from fine textiles. That includes silk, linen, cotton, wools, mohair, and leather.
